Things I Wish I Could Do In Tomodachi Life

the more time i spend checking in on no tou, the more little things i find myself wishing i could do. i already love watching my miis form friendships, fall in love, start families, and develop strangely specific opinions about food—but sometimes, the life i imagine for them extends a little further than what the game allows.

these aren’t necessarily complaints about tomodachi life: living the dream. they’re simply features, interactions, and tiny details that would make my island feel even more alive—or create even more opportunities for chaos. so, here are a few things i wish i could do in tomodachi life ♡

resell or get rid of unwanted clothes

i wish there were a way to resell, donate, or simply throw away clothes i no longer want. after buying different outfits for my miis and collecting pieces that don’t quite suit anyone, the clothing inventory can start to feel cluttered. being able to clear some of it out would make browsing my wardrobe much easier.

a little secondhand shop would be especially cute. i could sell unwanted clothes for a small amount of money, and other islanders could occasionally buy and wear them. even a basic donation box or recycling option would help—sometimes i just want to admit that nobody on no tou needs another copy of that outfit and let it go ♡

throw away disgusting food

i would also love a way to dispose of unwanted food, especially things like spoiled milk, ruined meals, and moldy bread. i understand that these items are supposed to be unpleasant, but once they enter my inventory, there isn’t much i actually want to do with them. giving them to a mii feels unnecessarily cruel, and keeping them forever feels even worse.

a simple trash can would solve the problem, although a compost bin could make it a little more fun. perhaps throwing away enough spoiled food could eventually create fertilizer, unlock a small gardening reward, or simply keep my inventory tidy. i don’t need to make money from every unwanted item—sometimes i just want the moldy bread to leave my island ♡

expand the island to meet the miis’ needs

as no tou’s population grows, i wish the island itself could grow alongside it. my miis are getting married, having children, and creating entire extended families, but the world around them still feels fairly fixed. it would be lovely to unlock additional land, neighborhoods, and facilities based on what the residents actually need.

perhaps a growing number of families could lead to a school or daycare, while more hungry miis could help expand the market or open a new restaurant. residents might request a park, clinic, community center, or another apartment building, and everyone could work toward funding it together. watching the island physically change in response to the lives unfolding there would make it feel less like a backdrop and more like a home the miis are building for themselves ♡

let t&c home reno sell exterior designs

i wish t&c home reno sold exterior designs for houses and rooms alongside the interiors. right now, the outside is left in each mii’s personality color, which is a useful way to identify them but doesn’t always suit the home—or the resident—i have in mind. after choosing such a specific room for someone, it feels strange for the exterior to remain completely disconnected from it.

the shop could offer cottage façades, modern townhouses, pastel doors, gothic exteriors, tropical designs, and other styles that rotate each week with the rooms. it would be even better if we could customize smaller details such as the roof, walls, windows, and front door. giving each home its own exterior would add more personality to the island and make visiting a mii feel like entering a place that truly belongs to them ♡

fairer baby rng—no henry viii situations, please

i love every child who has been born on no tou, but i wish the rng created a little more variety between families. when the game repeatedly produces babies of the same gender, it begins to feel less random and more like my miis have accidentally wandered into a henry viii storyline. nobody needs to keep having children in pursuit of an island heir 😂

it would be nice to choose between completely random births, selecting the baby’s gender ourselves, or using a balanced setting that considers the island’s recent births. the game could also give us more opportunities for nonbinary children like kaede. i don’t need every family to form a perfectly even pattern—I would just like the rng to stop looking at no tou’s increasingly daughter-heavy family tree and deciding that what it really needs is another daughter ♡

final thoughts

none of these ideas would completely change what i love about tomodachi life: living the dream. i would still happily check in on no tou every day to feed my miis, watch their relationships unfold, and see what strange problem requires my attention next. most of my wishes are simply small ways the game could make island life feel more flexible, personal, and responsive to the residents who live there.

whether it’s clearing moldy bread out of my inventory, designing proper exteriors for everyone’s homes, or preventing another accidental henry viii storyline, these little additions would make managing no tou easier—and probably create even more delightful chaos along the way ♡

your turn

what do you wish you could do in tomodachi life? would you choose practical improvements like better inventory management, more ways to customize the island, or something completely chaotic that would make your miis’ lives even stranger? i’d love to hear which feature you would add first.
