ever since i started playing tomodachi life: living the dream, checking in on no tou has become one of my favorite little daily rituals. its residents have developed strange friendships, fallen in and out of love, worn some truly questionable outfits, and created more drama than i ever could have planned for them. since i keep mentioning these tiny people who live inside my switch, i thought it was finally time to introduce you to some of the miis who make no tou feel like its own wonderfully strange little world ♡
winnie
of course, the first resident i have to introduce is my own mii. winnie is a considerate daydreamer, which feels almost suspiciously accurate, and she has somehow already reached happiness level 320. she loves caprese salad, although one of her greatest loves is apparently still a mystery—even to me.
her life on no tou is a little more eventful than mine: she is married to brandon, with whom she is currently “super in love,” and she cherishes her two wonderfully named children, green dino and blåhaj. between the happy marriage, unusual family, and an outfit i would genuinely wear, my tiny digital counterpart seems to be doing pretty well for herself ♡
brandon
next is brandon, my real-life boyfriend and partner—and winnie’s husband on no tou. his mii is a considerate cheerleader, which makes him sound like the island’s quietly supportive friend who is always rooting for everyone else. he is currently at happiness level 196, so he still has some catching up to do with his extremely overachieving wife.
brandon loves enchiladas and also likes kimchi, sausage, and cheeseburgers, giving him one of the more reliably savory menus on the island. strangely, however, he absolutely loathes pizza. i’m not sure what virtual pizza did to offend him so deeply, but apparently even his considerate nature has its limits. between his football jersey, tiny yellow sneakers, and habit of hanging around the fountain, his mii has developed a charming little life of his own ♡
green dino
green dino is one of the most special residents of no tou because he existed long before the island did. he is based on green dino, the spunky green dinosaur plush i gave brandon for our first valentine’s day together. naturally, i had to turn him into a mii—and his outgoing go-getter personality feels perfect for a little dinosaur with such a big presence in our lives.
on no tou, green dino has grown up and built an entire life of his own. he cherishes his parents, winnie and brandon, is soulmates with his wife, pink dino, and has a child named madison whom he also cherishes. he has reached happiness level 186 and loves schnitzel, which isn’t a detail i knew the original plush needed until now. dressed in his tiny green cardigan with his dinosaur head held high, he looks every bit like the confident little go-getter the game says he is ♡
pink dino
pink dino is based on the shy pink dinosaur plushie brandon gave me a few days after our first valentine’s day together. she soon married green dino in the little life we imagined for our plushies, so it only felt right that their mii counterparts would find each other on no tou too. the game agreed: pink dino and green dino are officially soulmates.
her considerate daydreamer personality suits her perfectly. while green dino is an outgoing go-getter, pink dino is the quieter half of their relationship, usually looking sweet and slightly bashful in her pink cardigan and long skirt. she has reached happiness level 291, loves frozen yogurt, cherishes their child sakura, and cares deeply for madison. somehow, the two dinosaur plushies we gave each other around our first valentine’s day now have a marriage, a family, and a whole life unfolding inside my switch ♡
blåhaj
blåhaj is based on my real blåhaj shark plush, because apparently it wasn’t enough for my plushies to live around my home—they also needed complete digital lives of their own. on no tou, he is one of winnie and brandon’s children and has grown into a considerate cheerleader. with his bright blue shark face, tiny fangs, and star-covered shirt, he is also one of the island’s most immediately recognizable residents.
blåhaj has reached happiness level 194 and loves omelets, although his other favorite is still waiting to be discovered. he is married to rosehaj, whom he is super in love with, and they have two children: amelia, whom he cares deeply for, and faith, whom he cares a lot for. my real shark plush may spend most of his time quietly relaxing at home, but his mii counterpart has somehow acquired a wife, two children, and a thriving social life ♡
rosehaj
rosehaj is based on my actual rosehaj plush, blåhaj’s wife both outside the game and on no tou. naturally, i wanted their mii counterparts to stay together too, and the two sharks are currently “super in love.” she has a considerate cheerleader personality just like blåhaj, making them an especially well-matched—and very supportive—little couple.
at happiness level 275, rosehaj is thriving. she loves baked sweet potato and also enjoys anpan, gelatin snacks, and apples, although she absolutely loathes gingersnaps for reasons known only to her. between her rosy shark face, cheerful personality, and wonderfully pink room, she has turned out to be a very fitting digital version of the real rosehaj ♡
spheal
spheal is based on the plush i brought home for brandon from a trip to japan, so he already had a special place in our little plush family before moving to no tou. his mii is an outgoing go-getter with a round blue face, enormous sparkling eyes, and an unexpectedly dramatic sense of style. he has reached happiness level 183 and loves pancakes, which feels like a suitably cheerful favorite food for him.
his island life is moving quickly, too. brandon is his parent, athena is one of his closest friends, and he is currently sweethearts with amelia—blåhaj and rosehaj’s daughter. he doesn’t just like her; he already wants to marry her. apparently, this tiny spheal returned from japan ready to build an entire life for himself ♡
athena
athena is especially important to me because she was the first child brandon and i had in the game. unlike many of no tou’s residents, she wasn’t created from a person, character, or plushie—she was born on the island, and i got to watch her grow into a mii with a personality and life of her own. she even inherited my dark hair, which makes the family resemblance especially sweet.
athena is an ambitious rogue, so she has become far more bold and independent than her quiet beginnings might suggest. she is already at happiness level 271, loves hard candy, and cherishes both brandon and me. she is also ultra friends with amelia, giving her a close connection to another branch of no tou’s increasingly elaborate family tree. she may have started as an unexpected in-game baby, but she has become one of the residents i feel most attached to ♡
cheese dino
cheese dino is based on the actual cheese dino who lives in my room. like the other plush-inspired residents, his real-life counterpart has a fairly quiet existence, but his mii immediately set about building a much busier one. he is an outgoing go-getter with a bright yellow face, a tiny bucket hat, and the confident crossed-arm pose of someone who knows exactly what he is doing.
cheese dino has reached happiness level 187, although both of his favorite foods are still a complete mystery. despite his name, i have yet to confirm whether he feels particularly strongly about cheese. he is soulmates with his wife, sakura, cherishes their child, hazel, and is ultra friends with spheal. between his happy family and close friendships, cheese dino has quietly become one of no tou’s most socially successful plushies ♡
sakura
sakura was green dino and pink dino’s first child, born and raised entirely on no tou. because both of her parents were inspired by plushies, she feels like a character the game created from the little family story brandon and i had already imagined for them. with her soft pink coloring and bright dinosaur crest, she looks like a lovely mixture of both sides of her unusual family.
sakura is a considerate cheerleader at happiness level 250, and her favorite food is kimchi. she cares deeply for her parents and has now built a family of her own: she is very in love with her husband, cheese dino, and they have a child named hazel, whom she also cares deeply for. watching green dino and pink dino’s first island-born child grow up, get married, and become a parent herself has made no tou’s increasingly complicated family tree feel even more alive ♡
amelia
amelia is blåhaj and rosehaj’s first child, born and raised on no tou. she looks like a perfect combination of her shark parents, with blåhaj’s bright blue coloring and a touch of rosehaj’s pink in her hair. she grew into an outgoing dynamo, giving her an energetic personality that feels entirely her own.
at happiness level 243, amelia loves apples and cherishes blåhaj, while caring for rosehaj. she is also ultra friends with athena and sweethearts with spheal—and, very conveniently, they both want to marry each other. watching the first child of my two real-life shark plushies grow up and begin creating her own island story has made amelia another especially meaningful part of no tou’s ever-expanding family ♡
jennifer
jennifer is brandon’s and my second child, born on no tou after her older sister, athena. like athena, she inherited my dark hair, although her shorter bob and cozy red outfit give her a style that feels distinctly her own. getting to see another child created entirely by the game was a lovely surprise, especially as our little island family began to grow beyond the miis i had made myself.
while athena became an ambitious rogue, jennifer is a considerate buddy—the kind of personality that makes her sound friendly, dependable, and easy to be around. she has reached happiness level 237, but both of her favorite foods remain undiscovered. she cherishes brandon and me, as well as athena, suggesting that the sisters have a particularly sweet relationship. she may be our second island-born child, but she has claimed her own special place in the family ♡
madison
madison is green dino and pink dino’s second child, born on no tou after her older sister, sakura. like the rest of the family, she inherited a wonderfully dinosaur-like appearance, although her soft purple-pink coloring and pale crest make her easy to distinguish from her parents and sister. she is an ambitious achiever, which gives the family another determined personality alongside green dino’s outgoing energy and pink dino’s quieter nature.
madison has reached happiness level 233, but both of her favorite foods are still waiting to be discovered. she cherishes green dino, is getting along well with pink dino, and cares a lot for her relative hazel. while sakura has already married and started a family of her own, madison seems to be following her own path—and i’m curious to see what kind of life she creates for herself on the island ♡
hazel
hazel is cheese dino and sakura’s first child, created on no tou as the next generation of an already wonderfully complicated dinosaur family. she inherited cheese dino’s bright yellow coloring and the unmistakable dinosaur crest from sakura’s side, making her look like a perfect combination of both parents. she is also an ambitious achiever, so she seems determined to make her own mark on the island.
hazel has reached happiness level 222, although both of her favorite foods remain a mystery. she cherishes cheese dino, cares deeply for sakura, and cares a lot for her grandmother, pink dino. with hazel’s arrival, the story that began with two dinosaur plushies now stretches across three generations of miis—something i definitely didn’t expect when i first added green dino and pink dino to the island ♡
bumblebog
bumblebog is based on the knockoff djungelskog plushie i found on amazon. he may not be the official bear, but his slightly unusual origins—and the name bumblebog—give him a personality all his own. his mii has a round brown bear face, tiny ears, and a simple button-up shirt that makes him look like a very polite little neighbor.
fittingly, bumblebog is a considerate buddy. he is currently at happiness level 149, and both of his favorite foods are still waiting to be discovered. his social life is developing slowly: he is friends with amelia, vibes with pink dino, and would like to become friends with sakura. he hasn’t joined one of no tou’s sprawling family branches yet, but he seems perfectly content making connections around the island at his own gentle pace ♡
faith
faith is blåhaj and rosehaj’s second child, born on no tou after her older sister, amelia. she inherited the family’s unmistakable shark features, but her soft pink coloring makes her look especially similar to rosehaj. with her pink hair, little fangs, and sporty outfit, she has her own sweet and distinctive look.
while amelia grew into an outgoing dynamo, faith is a reserved perfectionist, making the two sisters wonderfully different from each other. she has reached happiness level 222, although neither of her favorite foods has been discovered yet. faith cherishes rosehaj and cares a lot for both blåhaj and amelia, so she seems closely attached to her family even if she is one of its quieter members ♡
kaede
kaede is brandon’s and my third child, as well as the first nonbinary mii on no tou. that makes their arrival feel like a particularly special little milestone for the island. with their tousled reddish-brown hair, green sweater, and checkered trousers, they already have a wonderfully distinct style that sets them apart from their older sisters.
kaede is an outgoing merrymaker, suggesting that they will bring plenty of energy and fun to our growing family. they are currently at happiness level 154, and both of their favorite foods are still waiting to be discovered. kaede cherishes both brandon and me, while their older sister jennifer cares deeply for them. they may be one of the island’s newer residents, but they are already an important part of no tou’s story ♡
final thoughts
what began as a small island filled with miis based on brandon, me, and a few of our plushies has somehow grown into an enormous, interconnected family. there have been marriages, children, grandchildren, close friendships, mysterious favorite foods, and far more relationship drama than i ever could have planned. some residents began with stories of their own, while others were created entirely by the game and slowly became characters i genuinely care about.
that unpredictability is one of my favorite things about tomodachi life: living the dream. i may have created the first residents, but no tou feels like it has developed a life of its own. checking in each day to see what everyone is doing—and which unlikely relationship might form next—has become such a comforting little ritual ♡
